Porta Cité

Porta Cité: the gate of  Maasmechelen’s mining committee. Taste the coal mining past with us.  Feel at home in a lively environment and  appreciate the central location. There are endless  possibilities: cycling and hiking in the Hoge Kempen National  Park and Maasvallei River Park, shopping  at Maasmechelen Village and Maastricht, relaxing at  wellness Elaisa… It’s all possible! Our 20 suites and  premium rooms are divided between a stately  mining engineer’s villa and a new Urban section.  Welcome to our small, quirky and attractive  family hotel with cozy, spacious rooms.

We warmly welcome you.

Ewelina from Hotel Porta Cité, Sona and Leonardo from Leonardo restaurant and Cafar from Puccini restaurant welcome you.

The miners lived in a green cottage village better known as “the cité”. Many nationalities came to work in the coal mine. This brought a cosy mix of different cultures. Culinary delights then abound.

HBVL visiting

In February 2023, Het Belang van Limburg visited our renovated hotel for a report on our hotel and its connection to the miners’ past and the Garden District.
